As the Internal IT Intern, you will be a reference point for all IT related queries from internal employees. You will play a pivotal role in responding to user needs in a timely manner, ensuring the optimal running of all systems, managing access to resources, as well as other technical duties. You must display good interpersonal skills as you will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels to listen to any technical needs, understand the problems and implement the solutions needed.
This position is on-site at our HQ in Virginia Beach, VA.
Key Objectives
Objective #1: Provide employees with reliable tools and systems to get work done:
- Maintain the office Wi-Fi network and ensure network uptime does not fall below 99.5% availability
- Ensure the mean time to recover from each outage is consistently as short as possible, any outages are reported to the team, and the cause of any outage is documented
- Maintain, repair, or replace inventory as needed, including auditing annually
- Responsible for basic installation and life-cycle maintenance of PCs, servers and LAN network
Objective #2: Service employees with responsive and compliant support:
- First responder to all helpdesk issues (ex: software and hardware troubleshooting)
- Ensure IT tickets are completed efficiently, accurately and on time
- Perform all user and identity management following the principle of least privilege
Objective #3: Provide employees with self-service resources and troubleshooting documentation:
- Create/update internal documentation for building an IT Team reference center of excellence
- Create/update employee self-service documentation, reducing the need for IT intervention
- Explore automation and scripting opportunities to get work done quicker and more reliably
Specialized Experience
- Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting (analysis, installation, configuration)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS and Office productivity suite of tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server OS and/or Linux OS (ex: Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc)
- Proficiency in the English language
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds on a regular basis
