About the Role

We are hiring a Vice President of Engineering to lead all software development at SpinSci. You will inherit a talented engineering organization and scale it — in size, velocity, and technical depth — as we expand our Healthcare AI Fabric and the AI agents that run on it. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, with full ownership of engineering strategy, delivery, quality, and culture. You will partner closely with Product, Implementation, Security, and Customer Success to ship an orchestration platform that runs inside the most complex clinical and administrative environments in healthcare. If you want to build AI that operates in the real world — measured in appointments booked, prior auths approved, and patients served — this is that role.

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, coach, and scale an existing globally distributed engineering organization based in the United States and India, spanning platform, AI/ML integration, healthcare integrations, application, and QA.
  • Define and communicate the multi-quarter engineering roadmap in lockstep with product strategy and company OKRs.
  • Build the operating cadence — planning, delivery, review, and metrics — that allows teams across US and India time zones to ship predictably at healthcare-enterprise quality.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain senior engineering talent; grow managers and tech leads from within.

Product Delivery & Technical Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the SpinSci Platform and the AI agents that run on it — Voice AI, Contact Center AI, Patient Notification AI, and Clinical Communications.
  • Drive architecture decisions for a multi-tenant, HIPAA-grade orchestration platform that spans CCaaS, EHR, payer, and messaging systems.
  • Partner with AI/ML leadership on the practical application of LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), fine-tuning (SFT/LoRA/QLoRA), evaluations, and human-in-the-loop (HITL) design for agent workflows.
  • Champion a production mindset: observability, SLOs, cost efficiency, incident response, and measurable agent performance in live clinical operations.

Integrations & Customer Success

  • Scale our integration depth across Epic, Cerner, Oracle Health, Athena, and major CCaaS platforms including Cisco, Genesys, NICE, Five9, and Avaya.
  • Work directly with implementation teams and enterprise customers — VPs of Patient Access, CIOs, CMOs — to understand deployment realities and remove friction from go-lives.
  • Turn field-learned insight into platform capability so every customer deployment makes the next one faster.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Operate as the engineering voice in executive forums — strategy, investment, customer reviews, and board-level updates.
  • Partner with Product, Design, AI/ML, Security, Finance, and GTM to align technical investment with business outcomes.
  • Represent SpinSci engineering externally with customers, partners (Epic, Microsoft Azure AI, Twilio, Salesforce, CCaaS vendors), and the healthcare AI community.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 7+ years leading engineering organizations of 25+ engineers, including managers of managers.
  • Proven track record scaling an existing engineering team through a growth stage — you have taken a team from where we are to where we are going.
  • Hands-on experience shipping and operating AI/ML-powered products in production — LLM applications, agent systems, RAG pipelines, fine-tuning, evaluations, and HITL workflows.
  • Experience in healthcare technology — EHR, EDI, HL7 FHIR, payer integrations, CCaaS, or patient-facing systems — or a very fast track record of becoming fluent in a regulated domain.
  • Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams, including an offshore India presence, and running a healthy follow-the-sun delivery model.
  • Experience leading under HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II; comfortable owning engineering’s role in audits.
  • Experience delivering enterprise SaaS to large health systems, hospitals, or similarly complex enterprise buyers.

Required Skills

  • Strong command of modern cloud architecture (AWS, Oracle Cloud preferred), microservices, event-driven systems, and multi-tenant data platforms.
  • Working fluency with AI/ML engineering: LLM integration patterns, vector stores, prompt and evaluation tooling, and MLOps for agent systems.
  • Understanding of telephony and contact center platforms (Cisco, Genesys, NICE, Five9, Avaya) and messaging platforms (Twilio) as production integration surfaces.
  • Pragmatic about build vs. buy; opinionated about platformization, reuse, and the cost of accidental complexity.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience at a healthcare AI or patient-access-focused company.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams in the DFW or Austin tech ecosystems.
  • Published or spoken externally on applied AI, healthcare technology, or engineering leadership.

Location

This is a hybrid role based in Dallas or Austin, Texas. We strongly prefer candidates already in the DFW or Austin metro areas who can be on-site regularly with the team and available for customer travel. Candidates willing to relocate will be considered.
